Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Remake

In honor of the 40th anniversary of the initial release of the album, several bands are going to be playing songs off The Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band for a special BBC radio broadcast, scheduled for a day after the anniversary on June 2nd.

Oasis, The Killers and Razorlight are among those who will take part in recording sessions for the BBC Radio 2 program to be aired on June 2, a day after the anniversary.

Other bands covering songs from the acclaimed album include James Morrison, The Fratellis, Travis and the Kaiser Chiefs.

I wish there were other, less commercial bands playing too. I'm not a big fan of any of any of them, and much less a fan of Beatle remakes. Perhaps this will turn out good, who knows?

For a really good Beatles cover band, check out the Fab Faux. They stay very true to the original songs, and include all the sound effects (people clapping in the background, bells, static, etc.) used in the Beatles later records, making their live performances sound very much like the original records.
